Rogue Machine Theatre To Open Seventh Season

Multi-award winning ROGUE MACHINE THEATRE (BEST PRODUCTION Award winner 2013, 2011 and 2010 - Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle, Ovation) is back for their SEVENTH SEASON in Los Angeles, beginning May 24, 2014.

SEASON SEVEN main stage offerings will include the Los Angeles Premiere of Pulitzer Prize finalist Rajiv Joseph’s GRUESOME PLAYGROUND INJURIES (Bengal Tiger at the Bagdad Zoo - NEA Award BEST PLAY), directed by Larissa Kokernot (Ovation Award winning production of Family Planning for Chalk Repertory). Charting the intersection of two lives, the manipulations of their relationship, and the cumulative damage of wounds inflicted, intimacy may never have looked so familiar, funny, and frightening. The cast will include Bradley Fleischer, who originated the role of Doug. The schedule will be 5 p.m. Saturdays, 7 p.m. Sundays, and 8pm Mondays through July 12th. Tickets are $30 at http://www.roguemachinetheatre.com. For more information call 855-585-5185.

“Our season opener comes from a very impressive playwright who has cleverly captured our ability to love and how it follows us from childhood. Those early experiences inform our behavior and lack of ability for intimacy in our adult relationships. It’s a funny serious subject, so audiences can have a good time laughing while taking a very thought provoking journey,” says Artistic Director, John Perrin Flynn

Opening June 7th will be PENELOPE, written by Tony Award winner Enda Walsh and directed by John Perrin Flynn. Let the games begin! An unforeseen dark comedic adventure through atonement and redemption, allegorically rich with subtext, with a magical surprise. This is the Hunger Games as only Enda Walsh could write it.

The World Premiere of NICE THINGS by multi-award winning playwright Vince Melocchi (Lions) will open in the late summer/early fall of 2014, with four stories, four characters, and an unexpected inter-related investigation into the consequences of their actions. Mike Bartlett’s Olivier Award winning comedy, COCK, will follow. Originally staged at the Royal Court Theatre, with a hugely successful subsequent run Off-Broadway, it comes to Rogue Machine as the West Coast Premiere. A playful, candid look at one man's sexuality and the difficulties that arise when you realize that you have a choice.

5th play TBA soon
- MAY 15, 2014 will be Rogue Machine’s Annual Benefit Gala. This year will celebrate theatre through song. The "ONE NIGHT IN SANTA MONICA" event will take place 6pm – 10pm at the Santa Monica Bay Women’s Club, 1210 Fourth Street, Santa Monica, CA 90401. It will feature live music, cocktails, silent auction, and MORE…Tickets available at https://roguemachine.secure.force.com/donate/?dfId=a0oF000000B4IKtIAN

In addition to the five main stage productions and the Annual Benefit Gala, ROGUE MACHINE THEATRE will select several projects for their LATE NIGHT series, which traditionally offers "edgier" entertainment. Previous productions in this slot include the critically acclaimed and multi-award nominated (Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards, LA Weekly Awards, and Ovation Awards) SMALL ENGINE REPAIR by John Pollono, BINGO WITH THE INDIANS by Adam Rapp, and DIRTY FILTHY LOVE STORY by Rob Mersola. The successful AROUND THE CLOCK playwrighting/production series will continue, as will the popular RANT & RAVE monthly series on Mondays.

Ticketing information will be announced shortly, and will be available by visiting www.roguemachinetheatre.com

ROGUE MACHINE has garnered recognition for their work in upwards of 60 awards and nominations, including BEST PRODUCTION Award, for three seasons, from the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle, Ovation, and two seasons from Garland voters, the Polly Warfield Award for Excellent Season in Small to Mid-Size Theater (funded by the Nederlander Organization), and 2013 LA Weekly Award for Playwriting (Kemp Powers) for ONE NIGHT IN MIAMI...
